CURRICULUM & STRUCTURE CURRICULUM Children learn differently than adults. They require hands on experiences to fully comprehend
the skills that we teach. A child can know how to count to ten, but not understand what 10 means until he/she has physically picked up objects and counted them.
Learning must also be fun. We base our daily activities around the theory that "play is a child's work".
The A-Beka curriculum gives the children a foundation on
which to build their learning experiences. A-Beka is a Christian based pre-school program. It is published by the Pensacola Christian College. It also teaches social
skills including, being a good citizen, respecting others, sharing and caring. It does not teach a particular religion. It covers basic beliefs such as, do not tell a lie, love one
another, don't steal or cheat, etc. STRUCTURE Our classrooms are divided into four centers, learning, manipulative, dramatic and creative. Each center
contains an assortment of activities and equipment for the children to experience. Centered activities provide "hands on" reinforcement for the A-Beka bookwork.
Each of our classrooms are divided by age. We have two nurseries, a 0-6 months and a 6-12 months. Room "A" is our 1-1 1/2 year old children. Room "E" is our 1 1/2 - 2
year old children. Room "D" is our 2 - 21/2 year old children. Room "C" is our 2 1/2 to 3 year old children. Room "B" is our 3 and 4 year old children.
Along with the books and equipment our staff will motivate your child to use their thinking skills. Each child will have an opportunity to share experiences and
feelings, speak aloud to other children and teachers, imagine, create and explore.
A big part of your child's learning ability has to do with the way he feels in the center and around other children.
Our staff will nuture and love your child, so they can feel comfortable enough to express themselves and be open to all the experiences we have to offer.
